Doh! that's how to get the stiches working

Sometimes the elevator doesn't go all the way to the top floor. I've had this sewing machine for ten years or so and I've wondered how come it shows stiches there that cannot be used. Those stitches marked with red. I've assumed that they've printed the stitch signs there because they use the same part for all their sewing machines. Yeah.

But one has to turn the wheel so the red line is chosen. Doh! The red stiches work when the red settings are on... I mean seriously, how dumb can one be.

RTFM ☺

  1. Haha! I do things like that all the time. But, the good news is, it's practically like having a new sewing machine now, right? :)

  2. Wow. I could not have figured that out while being sleep deprived. Does thismean there's a sewing project in the works?

    1. realizing this was a sum of many things. I was checking this sewing magazine and was admiring the stitches used in that, also I've been fiddling with some jersey knit lately, and I did sew some diaper inserts. But yet I haven't used the stiches anywhere. I have plans, but nothing started yet.

  3. I still can't see where I would choose the red setting. It's not marked very clearly so it's *obviously* a usability problem and not a dumb user error :)

    1. You are right! It is not clear, but I'm still amazed it took me about 10 years to figure out.
