Office redo - it's started

I had some white paint left from painting the toilet. The paint is plain white colour. I wasn't sure if the plain white would be good in the office so I wanted to try it first on a small area. I painted the top of one door which has cabinets on both sides, so the area I needed to paint is very small. It's close to the ceiling so I was also able to examine the paint colour next to the white ceiling.

I like the plain white. It's good, now I can use up the rest of the left over paint, but I also will need to buy more of it.

I don't know why it took so long but I finally disassembled the other shelf from the office so that I can paint the shelf and also the wall that was behind the shelf. Here is the before.

Of course I had to remove all the things from the shelf and pile the stuff in one corner in the office. I know already that the painting will take some time, so we need to live with the stuff piled in the corner for at least a week, probably even longer, not to even mention the other side of the office, which also has a shelf that I need to disassemble.

The weather has not been too good. If it had I would had most likely started with the shelf, since the drying time of the furniture paint is way longer than on wall paint. I need to sand the shelves and I want to do that outside. I hope the weather turnes nicer soon.

Also I've managed to take off rest of the rosy wallpaper from the big wall and I have spackled all the holes from the wall. There were quite a few holes.

There was also a picture of a girl scraped on the wall paper, I had to take a photo of it before I covered it with spackling paste, it was kind of cute. And in case you are wondering why I did not remove the stripy wall paper, I wrote a whole post about it some time ago, it can be found from here.

Now the redo of the office has finally truly begun. Prepare for a whole bunch of painting related posts.

  1. Your office space is going to look really nice afterwards. We have a big Lundia shelf in wood color too and I would love to paint it white, but it feels like too much work to remove all the books and take it apart. So it stays in my "some day" list...

  3. How exciting. And very clever of you you to test the paint in a small spot before jumping right in with it.
