Diaper changing area

We did not get a separate changing table for the kid to the bedroom. I assumed it would be best to change the kid's diapers in the bathroom where there is running water close by. Also our bathroom has a good amount of counter space so a free standing changing table was not needed. I just had to remove the candles from the top and some towels from the shelf to make a place for the diaper changing.

We were going to buy a changing pad and I did look for one from flea markets and charity shops, but I did not see any. I know I could buy one from a regular store, but I've never got around to that section in the supermarket. So I just folded a towel on the counter and covered it with a terrycloth that has a plastic lining. Then I added some baskets, where we now keep the diapers, spill rags, lotion and other items related to diaper changing or washing and bathing. It was surprisingly easy to create a diaper changing place. No idea yet if the items on the area are useful or not.

  1. It looks like that spot was made to be a diaper changing station.

    How much longer now?

  2. oooh, getting close. How exciting! You may wish for a spot that isn't so brightly lit for those middle of the night changings. I don't know if you do it there in Finland, but as soon as your baby can stand and is sturdy on his or her feet, you can change the baby standing up. It is quite convenient that way.

    1. I agree, we have thought about options on separate light there which would not be so bright. The lamp we have there is really bright even to my liking.

We might need to change the place later or do some alterations for it, since I don't think the kid will fit to that place very long.

Many here do change the diapers while the baby stands, like on the go. But that will take some time before our kid stands.

  3. Looks good! I remember the first time we changed our baby's diapers and didn't remember to hold a towel over him when he was naked. Boy that liquid went high and far. Good your changing station is in the bathroom :D
